Infinity Pendant by Adam Lambert generates funds for charity

Superstar Adam Lambert shows his generosity by sponsoring the creation of a second Pennyroyal Silver pendant for charity.  Demonstrating that those who attain great success and wealth can and will continue to give something back,  Lambert is donating all the profits from the sale of this Infinity Pendant to  This second limited edition pendant went on sale Saturday, Sept. 25 and will only be sold until Oct. 31.

The new pendant uses Lambert’s new infinity tattoo as inspiration.  In speaking about the infinity tatoo Lambert praised his fans and recognized that everything is essentially energy.  He said,

“My infinity tattoo really represents what life is like for me at this stage.  It is all about energy and the energy I get from my fans.  When I am onstage and the fans feed me their enthusiastic energy, I am able to feed off of it and give it right back to them.  It’s all about the energy flow.”

Lambert previously worked with Pennyroyal Silver to create a pendant representing his Eye of Horus tattoo.  That project raised over $30,000 for charity in only seven days.  Lambert’s fans have also rainsed more than $500,000 for his Glam a Classroom charity, which raises funds for school improvement projects.

The Adam Lambert Infinity Signature Collection pendant went on sale Saturday and will remain avilable for sale at Pennyroyal Silver through Oct. 31.

May we all find our true gifts and contribute them to others as Adam Lambert has done.

Magic & Voodoo in New Orleans
Tue, Sep 21, 2010 at 1:13 PM
Adam has introduced me to so many firsts, at a time in my life when I didn’t think it was possible to experience many of those anymore. So, not only was this going to be the first time I’d see him live, it was going to my first trip to the US, as well as my first trip to New Orleans. To say I was excited would be the understatement of the millennium.

New Orleans did not disappoint and lived up to everything everyone had ever told me about that magical city. More importantly, Nola more than lived up to my own expectations – no mean feat, as a longstanding desire to visit played a huge part in romanticizing the hell out of the prospect.

As I was there only for the weekend, I tried to cram in as much as I could, but there were priorities: being a major Anne Rice admirer, I simply had to go on a Garden District tour that would take me to her former home, and of course, how could I go to New Orleans and not go on a vampire tour? But a mounting excitement permeated all – I would finally see Adam live and, more importantly, hear that voice – live!

Sunday duly arrived and I made contact with my new American friends from various Adam fan sites. We agreed to meet at the theatre where I still had to collect my ticket from the will call area. I was going to try to sell it and buy a better ticket from one of my new friends. Don’t ask, but unable to sell, or in fact, give away the others, I ended up with three tickets and spent a hilarious time trying out all the seats to find the best one, which, unsurprisingly, turned out to be 7 rows from the front. Clearly I was intent on having the best Adam experience Nola could offer, and in the process, I met some wonderful people, one of whom was so kind as to gift me the seat in the 7th row when he discovered I’d travelled all the way from the UK to see Adam – how amazing is Adam’s fans?!

The theatre filled, music thumped, people chattered and laughed excitedly, and sorted out their various camera and video bits and pieces. And danced with a capital D! Three gorgeous young males with Mohawks, jeans, stiletto boots, sparkly necklaces and very little else, posed for pictures with everyone who wanted them – they looked like they belonged in a glam rock band themselves. I didn’t recognize them, but assumed, because of their behaviour, that they were famous. As it turned out, they weren’t famous, and obviously got what they came for when Adam called them to the stage later during the concert to thank them for dressing up.

Meanwhile, the anticipation and excitement reached fever pitch. Then Alison was on stage. I’m not going to say much about her, because honestly, I was entirely focused on Adam.

When FYE came on, the decibel levels in the auditorium rose by about a thousand percent, and I was glad I’d remembered cotton buds for my ears, but even so, the sound was deafening. Suddenly, Adam appeared at the top of the stairs, held aloft a new voodoo staff I hadn’t seen before, struck his familiar pose and sang his first note. All around me, the place erupted into a heightened frenzy of screams and applause. But I couldn’t move. That first note had sent an electric current through my body that fixed me to the spot. I happened to have my hand on my chest when he first started to sing and that’s where it remained throughout the entire concert. I could feel every note inside my body and I can truthfully say that no other human voice had ever affected me so profoundly. You may trust me when I say I have been very close to some of the world’s most beautiful and renowned voices, but Adam’s voice had an entirely visceral effect on me for which I was utterly unprepared. I do remember briefly wishing that the two young ladies behind me would stop singing lustily and out-of-tune as they tried, unsuccessfully, to match Adam on every single note in every single song, before waiting for the quietest moment in ‘Soaked’ to scream: Adam I want to have your babies – classy! Haha!

Although I’d heard his voice many times before, on the CD and also on the videos, which kind people like Suz526 post for us to watch on You Tube, the sound is very different when you hear it live. It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly, because although he is very clearly and obviously a lyric tenor, darker sounds lurk beneath, reminiscent of a more baritone voice and so many harmonics…!

Of course, we all know that Adam can sing, but he REALLY sings. By that I mean he doesn’t fool around with falsetto trickery, sloppy diction and lazy breathing, which so many pop singers do. He sings with a full head voice into his falsetto range and he never lets go of a seamless legato line. Like many great opera singers, he not only sings a musical legato line, but also a lyrical one and extends the line beyond the phrasing. This is particularly obvious in a song like ‘Soaked’ which is technically difficult because it ranges through his passaggio (register break), but you’d never know, because his voice is incredibly well-trained and he negotiates his passaggios so well. And like all the great tenors of the opera world, he knows how to milk every phrase for emotional content. And talking of phrases; not only does he keep his phrasing interesting and fresh, he is clearly hiding a third lung in there somewhere, because he sings some marathon phrases, along with those mad coloratura type passages, which he always infuses with meaning and purpose, whilst gyrating, strutting and jumping his way through the concert, all with perfect support and breath control – I defy any opera singer to do that! Another hallmark of a great singer is the fact that his diction is so perfectly clear and seemingly effortless in every song. And his pitching is another amazing feat of genius, because even great opera singers sometimes hit a bum note, but I had to wait for a fraction of a note in TCB for that to happen and he corrected it instantly, which shows not only impeccable professionalism, but also how aware and how in touch with his instrument he is. On top of all that, Adam performs with incredible sophistication and finesse, something which is not always immediately obvious when watching the videos on You Tube. Yup, he wasn’t kidding when in his audition he said “I can seng”!

And then it was over and he was gone. The house lights came on. People started moving into the isles, but I remained rooted to my spot and realized that my face was wet. I had obviously been crying, but how odd that I had been unaware of it. My carefully applied ‘Adam’ make-up was probably smudged, I reckoned, and the rhinestones around my eyes had slithered off somewhere floor-wards, I expected, never to be seen again.

In a daze, I followed the crowd outside, and went to the back of the theatre, near the tour buses, where I met up once again with my friends to wait for Adam to come out to sign stuff. But there were so many people, I didn’t rate my chances of the opportunity to give him my favourite book, Cry to Heaven, by my favourite author, Anne Rice.

My new friends invited me to leave with them, because they’d been informed that Adam was being paid to appear at another club, not Oz, and they wanted to get there early. But one of the security guards very kindly promised that he’d get my small gift for Adam to his manager and with that, we got into a taxi and set off for Bourbon Street. The club was in fact opposite Oz and a private area had been allocated for Adam and his entourage. We weren’t the only ones who’d heard that he’d be there, because soon the place was filled to the brim with Glamberts of all shapes and sizes, to the bemusement of the regulars. But the security guards at the club behaved as though we were machete-yielding cannibals waiting to tear Adam limb-from-limb – well, there might have been a few of those, but the majority of us just wanted to see him, and so we waited patiently, orderly and quietly behind the barrier that had been put up in front of us, just beside the entrance through which Adam had to walk to go into the private area.

After waiting for what seemed like a year, Adam arrived with members of his band, his dancers and the three Mohawk guys from the concert. I saw him very briefly, but was close enough that had I stretched out, I probably could have touched him – I didn’t, though! He looked so happy and smiley and waved to us. I experienced the weirdest sensation, because it looked to me as though he was shining. I know that sounds like something from the Twilight Zone, but that is what I experienced.

Once he was safely inside the private area, the barriers were removed and people surged forward to stare and take pictures though the railings that separated him from us. I have to be honest and say that I found that rather distasteful – as though he was some kind of animal in a zoo, so I left to dance with whoever was on the dance-floor. What fun! I love dancing with a capital L, but don’t get much chance to do so anymore, so when I get my groove on, I don’t know when to stop. One of my new friends, poor thing, was roped into the dancing frenzy with me, but by about 2:30am she’d had enough and left me to my own devices.

Another friend and I waited together and then followed Adam when he left, escorted by bouncers and police, to walk across the narrow street to Oz, where he went upstairs and the door was firmly shut behind him. It was around 4:00am. Oh well, that’s that, I reckoned. I bid farewell to my friends and sauntered down the road back to my hotel, marvelling at all the glitter on the pavements and wondering how they were ever going to get clean again. Imagine my dismay when I discovered the next day that seconds after I’d left, Adam came through that door to dance with several fans! Ugghhh!

It’s been little over a week since Nola and I’ve been in a daze all this time, only coming round now, as if awaking from a deep sleep. I will never forget the magic of Nola, or the voodoo of Adam’s voice. I can’t wait for November when I’ll see him again in Manchester and London, and then someone mentioned Milan….!!!

My next goal is to get close enough to the stage so I can hear that amazing voice unmiked!

  1. Hey, Gloria, great post as always! Love the blog and recap from Starlight, brings back the memories of the great time that we had with her, as we were her new friends that went to Bourbon St. to stalk/stan Adam, and I am her friend that danced with her! She did not wear me out, but I was tired, and unfortunately gave up before Adam came out to play! I will say, she is a lovely, talented woman, and practically sings as she speaks about Adam, such a joy to meet her and party with her in New Orleans! I have some new friends for life from sharing this great trip to see Adam in NO! I don’t think I have come down yet, haven’t even written about my awesome Glamnation trip to Houston/NO, but maybe next week!
Thanks for the great info as always.

  7. Starlight’s almost “stream of consciousness” report had me transported to not only be there with her, but to actually become her, in a sense, during those moments that “we” experienced Adam. I went to the Texas “trifector” GLN, and, through Starlight, I went to NOLA too.
